Regarding Minecraft 1.8

Hey Minetimers,

As you may already know, Minecraft 1.8 is scheduled to be released tomorrow. Minecraft updates are occasionally a little off-schedule but, either way, Minecraft 1.8 is coming soon. You can review the changes and new features in Minecraft 1.8 here.

I will update Minetime to let Minecraft 1.8 clients connect within hours after 1.8 is released, but I recommend editing your profile to change your Minecraft version to anything from 1.7.2 through 1.7.10 instead of the default of "use latest version" to ensure that you have no problems connecting to Minetime before it's updated.

Please note that there will likely not be a legitimate Minecraft 1.8 server build out for weeks, and Minetime will only be updating to let Minecraft 1.8 users connect in the meantime. I'll let you know when Minetime is updated to legitimate 1.8 build with 1.8 features.

Support for Minecraft versions 1.7.10 and below will likely be dropped when we update to allow 1.8 clients to connect, so those of you who are using modified versions of Minecraft (clients) will be stuck with the vanilla Minecraft client until your clients update to 1.8. I know we've had support for both the new and previous versions of Minecraft in past updates, but unfortunately this is not possible due to some technical changes to our network we've made in preparation for our special project.

A few of our the plugins on our network break with every Minecraft update, most notably CombatTag and DisguiseCraft. These plugins are unlikely to be affected by tomorrow's update because, as previously stated, we're not going to be using or have available to us a legitimate 1.8 server jar, but it is possible that they may be broken for a few days.
