Recently, there may have been a time where you've seen Minetime far below its usual player count, and found yourself unable to login. This is due to our lobby crashing. This has happened a few times over the past couple weeks and the severity of it is based on how soon I notice it (and get it back up). To be honest, I don't know why this has been happening, as our lobby has had a history of being very stable and I am unable to determine the cause of these crashes. However, I have taken some steps to ensure that this does not happen anymore. These steps include: Lowering its slot count from 220 to 150 Making world playerdata delete every time the server restarts (it's not needed) Simplifying its startup script (12 flags -> 2 flags) Disabling some internal components to ensure it can't max out its whole box's CPU Making it auto restart every 25 minutes instead of every 4 hours Deleting its unnecessary plugins I'm fairly positive that these changes will holistically fix the lobby's crashes. It's very important that the lobby never crashes because it is the only part of Minetime that can bring down the whole network by going offline. Since we're already on the topic, feel free to share your thoughts/opinions on Minetime's lobby in the comments section. I thought I might also add that our lobby doesn't really "crash", its console just freezes and the box it's on gets pegged at 100% CPU. So please don't ask me to see a crash report that you want to try and diagnose.
Hopefully these changes do end up helping the lobby stay, normal. Anyway I have a question: Will this guarantee that the lobby will never crash? Or just not as often? EDIT; Another Question: Do you go to school Collin? (Silly question xD)
I think @CollinPotato goes to school, just that it does not concern him much, with limited homework, laid back classes, etc.
