Seeing as that you were able to get a screenshot of the item and its name, it seems that the item actually was not causing players' clients to crash.
If it was an effect like "+9999999 speed" then that may cause you to crash the instant you move at all whilst holding it though.
Well, effects are different than enchantments and do not make the items glint at all. Also, often the enchantment "sparkle" is not visible on actual blocks. (At least for me)
I'm not really sure the technical term is effect for these really. Anyways, for a point of comparison: Where the enchantment sharpness adds an additional degree of damage on top of an item's damage, the effect +10000 attack damage seems to directly modify your base damage while holding the item.
