I was going to sleep last night thinking about all the arguments on the forums. With this in mind and how moderators can lock threads. I was thinking could the owner of the created forum can lock there own thread. A lot of arguments go on on this forum witch staff have seen and there have been some they haven't. But i thought some of the things they can access them by command with a menu up at the hot bar where you can import media ect.
    • /lockthread (Locks thread)
    • /ban[username] (Bans user from the thread, they can not reply to comments on the thread)
    • /unban[username] (Allows user to comment on the thread)
    • /permban[username] (User has insufficient privileges to comment on all the owner of the thread threads)
So these are some of my suggestions for what owners can do with the users on there thread. Also whilst i was typing this thread of my ideas i thought of another one; /moderate[username] This allows the user to moderate the thread having access to:
    • /ban[username]
Ignore the Skyblock prefix} you need one to create the thread.

While your heart is in the right place, giving thread creators the ability to do such things will discourage the free exchange of ideas. Many thread creators will simply ban users that have a differing opinion. While yes, there are some arguments that get out of hand, most debates simply expose us to other opinions and viewpoints.
Unfortunately, those commands would simply be used to suppress other's freedom of speech.

^Jess is correct, in my opinion.

The reason we have staff on the forums is so that out of control threads can be locked, player disagreements can be resolved, and players can be banned from the forums if need be.

Sorry, but in my opinion, I disagree, since maybe there is a thread and you really want to join, but you're perm banned from the owner of the thread, I think the permban is slightly a bit too harsh. But I'm satisfied with the ban and thread lock! Good idea!

I like the idea of the owner of the thread being able to lock the thread

That was the only part I thought would be appropriate. The others ones would make it too controlling. And how can you do commands on the forums?

Just saying /ban and /Permban are the same thing, I think you meant /tempban .

No, like in one of queen's threads, in the middle of the night, she had a argument. She requested a lock, but no staff were on. It would be better if the owner of a thread can lock it!

Well, the trick is to present your argument in a more logical and tasteful manner. The key is to keep calm and reasonable, present your points, listen to the counter argument and provide one of your own. Continue with this exchange of ideas until you either both agree or both agree to disagree.

If it degenerates into cussing or insults, simply remain calm, cool and collected. Do not participate in the inflammatory behavior, it is likely the other participant will make a fool of themselves, perhaps even get themselves banned from the forums. Essentially, be the better person.

An argument, when conducted appropriately, is simply a clash of opposing ideas and not necessarily a violent event. Simply because someone wishes to propose a different idea/thought doesn't mean that the thread should be locked. In fact, I am technically arguing right now.

The sad truth is, that when presented with an opposing viewpoint, many would just lock the thread after they sneak in the "last word", preventing the free exchange of ideas and ultimately limiting our usefulness as a community.
