It's easier then one might think But anyway, I'm quite sure this will not happen in the future. If it does it will be quickly dealt with as it always has been
For anyone unsure, it usually occurs because we're competition. Any game/community with a lot of servers has the same issue. Other servers want people to go to them, so they bring Minetime (and others) down in an effort to make that happen.
Wow.. You guys have a really strong protection, and someone managed to find all the IP's, and DDoS them. I JUST GOT ADMIN TODAY, WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?
Yeah, but the DDoSer could have the IP's in his/her hand right now, unless Collin buys more protection. You never know what the DDoSer did. He/she could of null routed it, and they could even have a bot net for all we know... Who knows who DDoSed it.
Distrubuted Denial of Service. In simple terms, the server is being hit with a lot of (bad) requests, which cause an overload of traffic, and can possibly crash the server. It's kinda like a restaurant, if you order 100 bowls of spaghetti, the people behind you also wanting spaghetti will get it later than you as you're making a ton of requests. Simarly, we're trying to get into the server, but there are a ton of requests already impacting it (Not necessarily connection requests, though), you'll have a hard time getting in. Or, If 20 people are downloading movies on your wifi, your wifi will slow down and you'll get worse performance, possibly even becoming unusable. Once we kill those people, your wifi will speed up again.
The server is now back online for most geographic locations and will be online for everyone within the next hour.
Well I am in the West Coast, and Minetime still isn't working, so I'm guessing the Aussie gamers can't really be playing on Minetime for now. Please tell us when we can play Minetime again for the people in Australia, I want to get on soon, possibly today.
