I say either completely remove them or come up with a strict policy towards spamming or abusing it. I honestly could point out at least 1-2 people that spam due to them being wrong and getting payback by giving someone a bad rating. I myself have gotten plenty of negative remarks specially Spelling when there isn't even an issue in the post.

If u r removing any rating, I think your first choice should be the "dumb" rating. A lot of people abuse with this rating somehow. Please don't argue with me if u don't agree. Thanks.

He has, at the beginning of this thread actually, currently there are almost twice as many votes for "No [They shouldn't be removed]" as there are for "Yes [They should be removed]"

What do you think about having negative ratings only lasting a certain amount of time (like a month or so)? That way all of those negative ratings would eventually disappear off your profile.

i say that bad ratings should be removed for EVER. because all thay do is it makes a way to get us bullyed, spammed with bad ratings, or just makes people want to abuse the rating system. i already have 62 bad ratings and what? 14 good ones? we should remove the bad ratings because theres no purpase accept to bully, or abuse the rating system. also i am suprised the NO option is more then yes, i don't know wich people want us to go on with being abused by these bad ratings. and also i already have about 13 people ignored because of this. and EVEN, i'm going to get a million billion dumbs and dissagres from people now.

Well the amount or negative ratings a player gets is typically representative of the comments they post. If you don't want negative ratings then maybe you, and everyone else, should think before you speak. Negative ratings aren't meant to be a form of bullying, but a way to voice your opinion on someone else's opinion.

    1. Please put more time into your posts to ensure that they are readable. The amount of errors in there is almost unbearable.
    2. I agree with daelwolf, one's received ratings are usually indicative of the quality and intelligence of their posts. If you are annoyed by receiving bad ratings then it is advisable to put more time into ensuring the accuracy and sensibility of your posts, threads, and comments.

You claim that these ratings are only for spamming and bullying. However, most would argue quite the opposite. More often than not, these ratings are used as a means to speak out against spamming bad posts or forum bullying. People who abuse the forum community are usually those who receive the most negative ratings, whereas those who are helpful and productive in their endeavors are more apt to receive positive ratings.

In a sense, it is really a way for the forum community to moderate itself to some extent. The rating system allows others to view the integrity of the user that created the post. It can both help users to identify if another member is reliable as well as warn people who they should steer clear of. It is how the community displays it's opinion of a player. If the player in question is detrimental to the community they tend to receive negative ratings, and if the player in question is affable then they tend to receive good ratings.

Furthermore, only a small minority of users have ever abused these ratings. Abuse of the rating system results in punishment by the forum staff. If a user spams you with negative ratings for no reason, all you must do is file a player report and staff will handle it to the best of their ability. Also, in actuality, users who spam other's posts with undeserved ratings tend to receive more bad ratings themselves.

Simply put, just because you and a select few other users have had issues with the rating system isn't grounds for removing it. Overall, it is a rather reliable display of public opinion based on one's posts. If this system were removed, there would be no way to tell a productive community member from a saboteur. You cannot represent such a diverse collection of characters, as minetime, with a one-sided system.

So, we must take the good with the bad and make the best out of every situation. I recommend that you should do the same and I hope that fate is kinder to you in the future.

That "agree" rating I just gave you cannot even begin to sum up my opinion of what you have just stated. You speak my exact opinion in such a manner that I couldn't possibly dream of. How did you learn to speak with such clarity, such eloquence? No matter, bravo sir, bravo.
