Try going here for fighting DDoS attacks. You can limit the amount of packets coming into your home network allowing easy detection of a threat by editing the settings on your laptop/computer. You also need to make sure you don't leave any easy doorways open for people to send information to your home network, causing it to get overwhelmed.
All of you who don't know how to stop a DDoS attack. Yeh look some servers take in the flow and balance it out. Other servers are incapable. If someone attacked your server with NTP on the open port (Usually 25565) that Node would go down without doubt. So in minetimes case 66.85.170.92:25565 Try putting that in your "Add server" It will work and you will still be able to go onto Minetime when the ddos' are running, i came on during this with one other play on all servers.. Also another way to prevent it is to change it from just "Minetime.com" To pvp.minetime.com <- PVP. cannot be resolved. The was hackers find your ip is simple. Open command prompt. Type "Ping Minetime.com" "Pinging 66.85.170.92 with 32Bytes of data" And if someone tried to do "Ping PVP.Minetime.com" It would fail because the host wouldn't be found.
A DDoS attack is an attack on your internet connection, it's like a virus but for your IP. A DDoS attack often results in lag, weak connection and Your IP being vulnerable.
It starts off very very small, suddenly it spreads rapidly, making the IP address disconnect, and produce lag, it spreads computer to computer, basicly spreads to any computer that is connected to the IP, which disables the Internet for the people on the IP, for a short amount of time, DDoS launchers can be charged with 5 years in Prison. But there was a guy who hacked into xxsonichixx's account and changed the pass, he HACKED into it, but I do not have a sign that that is from DDoS... Any guesses from you guys?
No a DDoS isn't effecting your computers at all. It just floods the modem/router. It sends alot of data to the modem, down the same line as the download/upload data the modem tries to filter, take it all in but floods it, thus crashing the nerwork. Your home connection uses PORT 53 and DNS data.
Ok here's what it is, DDoS attacks send ping attacks to you're router, it causes the internet to slow down a lot. It also makes LAG! *sigh* OUR ARCH ENEMY
