I'm sure you've all come across your fair share of silly, disagreeable, or poorly-articulated threads the website, as not everything here can be immediately filtered by staff members. We currently have negative ratings available on our site to quickly voice our opinions on such threads, and they are useful for this.

On the other hand, negative ratings are often abused or spammed by malicious site members. Whether you consider your total site rating trivial or important, it's never a good thing for users to hand out nonsensical negative ratings.

Should these negative ratings be removed? I have placed a vote on this thread and may pull negative ratings from the site based upon its results. If you have a more expansive opinion on this topic, feel free to talk about it in the comments section. Please don't post pictures showing when you or another person has been "rating spammed", as the staff and I are already aware of such instances. Thanks :)

I believe that negative ratings should stay on the site.

I know a few immature members of Minetime, who just post really dumb things on the website. I rarely rate other's posts "Dumb", but I give a dislike to somebody who is showing lack of maturity or being mean to others.

Maybe @drtshock could make it so that you can't spam negative ratings? Like a 10 minute cooldown per negative rating or something. Idk.

Thank you for making this! I would really love for you guys to remove these. It would cause less problems and people will not get mad at each other for this reason. :)

I feel that they shouldn't be removed, but put on a cooldown. I'm sure many players would agree with me when I say that the negative rating buttons are not the cause of the issue, it's the fact they players are spamming them. If we put a 30 minute-1 hour cooldown on them, the problem would be solved.

You'd think me out of anyone would want these removed. (Most negative ratings I believe) But I believe even though I have had my share of annoying rating abusers, people like me who properly use the rating system, still should be able to use the negative ratings. A cool down would most likely prevent rating abuse. Preferably only for negative ratings, good ratings are good to spam :D

Unfortunately there is currently no way to do that. And no, Trent isn't a web developer.

There isn't a way to set a cool down and I will not be making one.

I see the "dumb" rating being abused most. I would suggest removing it or making it a mutual rating.

Ok. I agree with Megan. If we do keep the negative ratings, why not just make them a neutral rating? This will allow the 'rater' to get the point across while not harming the 'ratee's profile.

It could be replaced with "unnecessary" or something like that.

Most people will use negative ratings against another player on purpose. I have seen it with players like SerialLoving and think it should be made neutral.

Someone rated this dumb... I think that's about enough right there. Maybe change it to "unethical" or "unnecessary" or even "illogical".

Yes, keep the other negative ratings there but remove the "dumb" rating. I see it being abused alot.

Well that would eventually lead to players just abusing the "Disagree" button.
