What Is Developer?

I've received a lot of questions like "what does a developer do?" so I figured I'd make a little post explaining what it is that I do here. Plus I figured I'd try the blog thing out here ;3

Website
Everyday I come on the website and check alerts and new posts just like everyone else, but not like everyone else I get to go check error and activity logs. I make sure that the backend of the website is running ok and tweak anything that @CollinPotato or myself aren't huge into. Last night I told Collin that we need a new theme and he finally gave me the go ahead to change it ;D We searched around for awhile and he finally decided on this one. I put it up, spent an hour or two making it not so default (even though it still is), made sure everything looked ok, then hit a switch and put it live for everyone.

Servers
I also make sure that servers run ok. Creative was recently having issues with ticks per second (how many times a server ticks in a second, is supposed to be 20) being down to around 4. I played with some stuff (understatement) and got it back up to a solid 20. I'll be monitoring the server as it is close to impossible to have a server with that many people on it run perfectly, but I'll do my best. I've done this with a lot of the servers, this is just a most recent example.

I also like to go in game and talk to people. It's my release. It's fun interacting with the people that you are working so hard to provide a good product to. Especially when we sit there and tell jokes for an hour on factions ;3

Programming
The bulk of what I do is programming. I write plugins for Minetime. Anywhere from MineMute, to a ton of other small util plugins, to a plugin that texts us when a server crashes, to minigames, I don't know a day that I haven't written any code for Minetime in the past 2 months (apart from my 1 week hiatus in Arizona), even on Christmas. Right now I am working on two minigames that are close to release (hopefully). I have been testing every day (sometimes that means playing a round of survivalgames by myself over and over again) to get the game as flawless as I can.

Fun
Collin and I have so much fun with what we do. I don't know when I don't have a Skype window or call going with him. Mainly we talk about Taylor Swift and the server, in that order.
