ok so OBS (open broadcasting software) will not open. No matter how many times I try to open it, it won't work. Ive reinstalled it, and it started working for like a few days, now it isn't working again. Help please.

    1. What does it say when you open it?

    2.Try running as administrator.

    3. Go to Task Manager, More details (bottom left), details then check for OBS. If it's open, close it. try opening it again.

    4. Try using a alternative download.

    5. Make sure your anti virus isn't blocking it (make and exception if you can)

    6. Try starting it without firewall.

If you get it to work, make sure you have adjusted the settings tab to the recommended settings.

another question I had, was that it had a warning that said "high encoding" at times when recording, and then it lagspikes when that happens. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Encoding means how much resources I used for good quality, I believe. Encoding is a whole tab in settings, you need to lower the settings in there.

so that means my graphics card cant handle it right? because everything in there is normal.
(also it would help if you told me each option to lower and what to lower it to. I have an R9380 graphics card. Idk if you can or not but if you can it would help)
EDIT: I just turned down the quality balance from 10 to 5 and that didn't help.

What graphics card do you have? (e.x. nvidia)

    Can OBS launch now?

If it can launch, go to task manager, find OBS then right click and set priority to high.

Are you using Windows 8, 10, 7, iMac, Linux or Unix?

I am using a MSI graphics card.
I started closing it whenever I am not using it. I have not encountered any problems so far after that.
    I will try that, thankyou.
    I am using Windows 10.

It's not the graphics card, it is the processor. If you have Intel I have nothing to say. But AMD processors are NOT good for OBS.

That's probably why. AMD processors suck with OBS. I had a 3.7 GHz processor and it HATED OBS.

Set max bitrate to 10000. Usually helps on weaker cards.

Also enable "Use CBR" and keep CBR Padding on.

Your graphics card can't use OBS then. It may not accept CBR.
