Not allowing hacks would kill the half the Minetime community, seeing as WizardHaxs Plays on Minetime occasionally it really shows how Minetime's community has been built around hackers. For that reason is why I love Minetime.
I see what your talking about, but when making ranks for a server it's hard to find alot of perks for 6 different ranks.
So you are telling me it is then alright to put in a stupidly overpowered feature called /fly? Listen if he does not know what to put in for 6 ranks then he should have less ranks. I actually doubt is is really hard since the fact that this is a 2000+ player server and you get serious cash flow.
1) Just because you're tired of some of our servers doesn't mean we're going to neglect them to focus on something new at the expense of all the players that still enjoy what we already have. We understand that the occasional player may get bored of something from time to time, and that new stuff can feel more fun until it gets old in a week or two. However, we can't let the core of the server go to waste just because a few people want us to cater to their wants instead. We are currently working on bettering/fixing what we have. Once that is completed we may look into something new. It is likely that the Hunger Games server will be replaced eventually, though I'm not sure with what yet. Who knows, maybe it will be minigames that you so desperately want, until you get bored of them in a few days and complain asking for something else instead. 2) Disallowing the use of clients, even with enough staff to enforce it, would not be as effective as you think. Even on servers that disallow the use of modified clients, many players still use them and get away with it. Pretty much, besides fly and anti-knockback, all other modules, when used right, are pretty easy to hide for users that know what they're doing. Also, I'd like to point out that banning players for using hacked clients still doesn't make it harder for players to use one to make a fake player report. There's really no way to tell if they are using a client or not as most of them have features that allow you to hide all the HUD from the screen. Besides, the uproar that changing such a core rule would cause would not be worth the minimal result of it. All it would change is how effectively players use their clients.
New gamemodes take some time to code, if you go on any other networks/servers, they are almost the same, games get repetitive after an amount of time, I'm pretty sure Minetime isn't the only one with this problem. Also, hacking is pretty fun, it somewhat adds variety, trying clients, testing them out, etc.
When people say new innovation they mean new gamemodes, sure they take time to code but Minetime has more than enough money to hire new developers. When you said in point two about disallowing the use of hacked clients and how people wouldn't get caught you can always create an anti cheat than automatically bans a player if he sets off enough logs. A reminder is that when you say fixing or bettering the servers we would rather a fun and friendly tournament with other players on a factions server than than some reset which mainly all you are doing is letting all the players start fresh again at the same time. Minetime doesn't really interact with it's community as much as other servers do. Mainly what I am saying is that Minetime really needs to pick up the pace instead of resetting servers. By new gamemodes I mean like do a new pvp server like a game like run escape that you can always update so players don't get bored of it. You have the money to get the developers and you have the time because we are really patient as we waited a very long time for empires. You get the point though by now I guess.
If he told everyone to stop hacking, half of Minetime would be banned and the server will go down in players dramatically.
Allowing hacked clients is really only the main thing that makes Minetime stand out from other servers by now.
Not only are most of the useful hacks easy to hide from players, but they'd be fairly easy to hide from a system searching for them. Kill aura could be hidden by choosing a tame speed and turning on the usually included mode to only attack in front of you. Fly isn't really useful with anti cheat plugins anyway, and things like speedmine are detected by block breaking becoming out of sync (which can happen even without hacks). Those are really the main hacks I can think of that actually have an influence on gameplay, and they're not super stand out. Another point that I think Jess was trying to make about not being caught wasn't in the concept of being reported for hacking, it was using hacks for reporting. It's simple to use a fakechat option and then just cover up the rest of the hacked client with some photo editing. Hacks make a lot of reports unreliable, but banning them really wouldn't fix that. If we to were believe every report after hacks were banned, we'd be banning a lot of innocents, I'm sure. A lot of the recent resets to servers weren't done for the purpose of giving everyone a fresh start (or rather that fresh start need was forced upon us), they were done because the gameplay was ruined on those servers. Exploits that were out of our control caused both the factions and prison server to become corrupt and in desperate need of a reset. When popular things become unplayable (laggy skyblock, item corrupted prison and factions through duplication) those need to be our first priorities. It's really only become more than occasional with the known players who have been playing on the server for lengthy periods of time, and it's to be expected. What you may not take into account are the hundreds upon thousands of players that don't use forums, don't talk out in chat, or don't do something that garners the attention of the community. Those players, along with new ones, constantly come on to play Minetime and enjoy it. Just because a lot of well known players end up getting bored because they've been here a long time, doesn't mean that everyone is, as many people try to make it seem.
http://www.badlion.net/forum/thread/17863 Gcheat, the best anticheat detector around, it bans hackers by itself and has proven to have a 99.99% rate to correctly ban players. Nothing is stopping you guys from making this if you were to disallow hacks.
I personally think minetime is one of the only server's that actually allows hacks. Also g cheat can be wrong because Stimpypvp got banned for hacking even though he doesn't he's just really good
Most client features do not set off no-cheat logs when used correctly (and the ones that do usually come with a warning). So, what you're saying is that you'd rather have a tournament on a super-laggy griefed up server than have the issues fixed? None of the recent resets have been just a restart for players, they have been mainly about updating the server, fixing all the laggy/griefed terrain, dealing with the mess caused by certain glitches/exploits and adding improvements that players suggested. The fact that you say the only purpose of these resets is to set back players is, if I'm being brutally honest here, kind of ignorant. So, instead of long-term sustainable servers, you'd rather us just ignore everything we've worked on, let it deteriorate and go to waste, and make a gamemode where the only objective is to run away from something, eh? Sounds like so much fun, double tap forward, sprint for a bit, maybe jump here and there. Then, we can update it so there's a left turn!! That's so exciting I can't hardly wait. You got it, we'll just delete everything and have all our players run in a straight line. Yes, players that have been around for a long time and play a lot are going to get kind of bored after a while. People getting bored of a game that they play constantly is just an inevitable truth, it will happen no matter what game they play, and no matter how much that game's creator puts into it. So, again, yes, we understand and accept that a few people will eventually get bored. However, there are hundreds of thousands of players that don't share these sentiments and, in the end, our first priorities are to them and to the gamemodes that make up the core and base of this server. We will not disregard the silent majority just to satisfy a few squeaky wheels that are tired of what we offer. Once we have updated, repaired and improved what we already have, we will then look into new things. Minetime will never disallow the use of modified clients, and will never add plugins that ban players without staff reviewing it.
People like Jess etc are working very hard so we just need to put our faith into them and believe they will do what's right
